4 Stroke Petrol Engine Test Bed (SMT-ICE-3)

This test bed is designed to study the performance and operational characteristics of a single-cylinder, four-stroke petrol engine under various load conditions. It allows students to measure key parameters such as power output, fuel consumption, and efficiency, and to analyze the engine behavior through real-time data and performance curves. The unit features a 5hp air-cooled engine directly integrated with an eddy current dynamometer that applies and measures torque. The system is equipped with remote controls for throttle and load adjustment and includes sensors for monitoring engine speed, air flow, temperatures, and exhaust gas composition. A critical feature is the engine indicator set with pressure and volume sensors for constructing real-time P-V diagrams, with all data captured and displayed through LabVIEW-based software for comprehensive analysis. Its primary application is in mechanical and automotive engineering education for teaching internal combustion engine principles and thermodynamics. The key benefit is the hands-on ability to correlate theoretical engine cycles with practical performance data, enabling students to visualize the relationship between operational variables, calculate efficiencies, and understand the impact of factors like air-fuel ratio on engine performance.
