Spring Mass System (Eccentric and Foundation Excitation) (SMT-TM-110)
The Spring Mass Vibrations Apparatus is a bench-top unit designed to study oscillatory motion in spring-mass systems. It features a sturdy base with two vertical guides and a horizontal bracket for stable alignment. A cradle runs smoothly on precision bearings with minimal friction. One end of a helical spring attaches to the cradle, with adjustable screw mechanisms controlling the spring’s starting position. Calibrated weights can be added to vary the oscillating mass. The cradle’s vertical motion is recorded on a rotating drum with paper. The apparatus supports both free and damped oscillations. A damper can be attached for controlled damping experiments.
